I'm wondering how many people actually read all their twits.

It's a bit hard to understand social media these days due to all the buzzwords (e.g. "late to the market", "overcrowded").

Does anyone else agree?

I keep going on and off with Twitter. Honestly, it just doesn't appeal to me as much. I see the value of it in news feeds, its ease of use, etc, but just don't bother with it much.

I also see the value in stuff like ning, which has great potential if used right, but see barriers to entry on that due to time involved setting a ning site up, and its high abandonment rate.

While Twitter has a high amount of users, like you, I find myself getting pinged more by followers looking to spam more than anything else. What a shame.
