Google Affiliate Program
March 22, 2008
One of the great things about having multiple products is that you can tie them together and make new packages.
Google has Google Analytics. I really like that service and use it all the time.
Google has an eCommerc solution called Google Checkout, which did not work the one time I tried it but I am sure it will improve with time.
Now, I am setting up a new product that has affiliates and I am looking through Google Analytics and it occurred to me: With all this great tracking going on, why can’t Google combine my analytics and their checkout program to make an ultra-sweet affiliate management system? You have all the pieces to make it so easy for people.
Google Analytics already have goals with monetary values. If you tie in the affiliate tracking to the goals and use Google checkout to send out the affiliate payments, you could have a really great and valuable system.
I know that many shopping carts already have this, but in my case I usually code it into a system, and that is not fun.
Just a thought - Sorry to get so technical on you guys.

Got something to say?

That is actually a good idea. Google Analytics has excellent tracking, and this addition would definitely be warmly welcomed by web aficionado’s with web ads. I wouldn’t doubt we would see that creep up on Google some time soon. New features and products appear from them all the time.
This is one of the best services that Google offers. It helps to improve your online results and also for you to have a good ads.
used to come here daily to read your stuff - bought your book because of what you have to say…
but must comment - that your lack of attention to posting regularily means to me, that my time is being wasted!
you need to blog daily or every other day at least Ron - else you’ll lose us — or have you noticed?
Jim
Hi Jim.
Thanks for your comment. I know I have been slowing down for a few weeks, but that has been because of working on a new product launch. My goal right now it to post 2-3 new posts per week.
Once that is done, in the next week or two, expect things to pick back up here.
I think that my 800+ articles does show my commitment, but sometimes you have to step back for a little bit and assess things.
ah…I understand….and feel a bit foolish saying this to you - but maybe you should “communicate” that stepping back? a simple mention of same would have let us all know that posts were going to be ‘thin’ for a bit….
Jim
No problem at all. You were correct in what you said.
I did not plan to post less, so much as move the priority of posting down a notch or two while I get some other things done.
The exciting thing is that when I stepped back, i asked myself a question: How can I provide more value for less cost?
When the new program comes out, we will have a lot of new stuff to talk about and I will have more time to write and help people learn.
