If you have a blog and you are trying to generate more traffic and readers, try being more generous with your linking to other blogs.  For example, did you know that almost every day I look at who is linking to this blog and check out their site?  I can do it in a few seconds on a technorati search.

I then link back to people sometimes if I find something interesting on their site or add them to my blog roll if they are a great resource for my visitors.

In fact, based on a new eMarketer study, people that read blogs frequently find them via links on other blogs.

Linking to someone else is also a great way to crank out a post even though you do not have something terribly clever to say that day.  You just comment on someone else’s post and link.

Some people make this a formal part of their blog strategy.

It is easy to be afraid that too many links to external sites will drive away traffic, but that fear is probably keeping your traffic much lower in the first place.  Be generous with your linking and watch your traffic grow.
